Course objectives: Acquisition of knowledge and skills for understanding the virtual environment and managing online adult education and learning
Course description: Theoretical course: Distance learning and online education – theoretical assumptions; Terminological - conceptual dilemmas (distance learning, electronic learning, online education and learning, virtual education and learning); Virtual reality, virtual university and virtual classroom. Practical course: Characteristics and particularities of LMS (Learning Management System); Virtual classroom – Moodle; Basic functions of Moodle; Mentoring work in Moodle; Communication and interaction in virtual educational environment; Basic rules of communication in virtual environment and the rules of net ethics; Characteristics of online learning and teaching; Individual and collaborative online education and learning; Particularities of the role of mentor in online education; Tasks and skills of mentor (creating forums, creating chat rooms, data entry, review of procedures, construction and correction of tests, assessing students’ writing); Particularities of evaluation of online adult education and learning.
Learning Outcomes: Student: • has the basic skills in virtual classroom and of mentoring in online adult education • Applies the principles of computer and net ethics in virtual environment • Respects the particularities of online learning and teaching • Monitors, guides and motivates adults in the process of online learning and education.
