Prison Education

Pre-requisites: The requirements are in accordance with the fourth year of studies admission requirements.

Course objectives: Understanding the particularities of educational organization in prison institutions, working methodology on re-education through re-socialization of convicts and reintegration into social environment.

Course description: Theoretical course: Subject and research areas of prison education; Theories of criminality and theoretical basis of prison education; The particularities of prison and prisoners from the standpoint of adult education; Forms and organization of re-educational work with convicts; Methods and means of re-educational work; Re-socialization of convicts and programmes of post-penalty treatment; Elements of plan and programme for reintegration of convicts into social environment; Comparative analysis of educational programmes for convicts; Practical course: Particularity of organizing formal and non-formal modes of education in prison environment (literacy spreading, trainings, acquiring qualification, retraining).

Learning Outcomes: Student: is capable of organizing and realizing the educational process in prison; is familiar with the particularities of methodology of re-education of convicts; is competent to participate in the re-socialization process of convicts, to create and to conduct the programmes of reintegration of convicts into environment.
