Course objectives: Introducing students into basic theoretical approaches of adult learning and training for recognition of attained level of adults’ cognitive development.

Course description: Theoretical course: Adult education and psychology. Learning and education. The meaning of the concept of adulthood in adult education. Implications of psychological personality theories for understanding the learning of adults: psychoanalysis, behaviourism, cognitivism, humanism, constructivism, social constructionism. Cognitive development of adults and self-understanding of the person who is learning. Practical course: Practising the recognition of attained level of cognitive development of adults. Practising to conduct interviews with adult students. Analysis of texts and film material with the thematic on education of adults, cognitive development and self-understanding of the person who is learning. Practising techniques for the stimulation of creative thinking.

Learning Outcomes: Understanding the basic theories of adult learning. Understanding the conceptions of adults’ cognitive development. Conducting and interpreting interviews with the goal of establishing the cognitive development level of the person who is learning. Application of techniques for stimulation of creative thinking.
